So happy you’re on Substack. I’ve listened to the Vanity Fair Diaries on audible more times than i care to admit and reading the above I can hear how you would be saying it! As a lifelong diary keeper i love the format, and always go back to listening to the VF diaries when i need something comforting to listen to. Something about the day-to-day mixed in with the glamour and glitz back then makes me feel oddly calm, especially as an often-running around working mother-of-two, young kids as you were in those years. I often think about your excerpts about Trump in the 80s and how you wrote about him, and how his life has turned out, and wonder what you make of it all, so am thrilled that you’re now here talking about it - looking forward to reading more :)

Seems right on about Lloyd Austin. Graduate of Auburn U in my native Alabama. Too bad addled Biden referred to him as that black guy. Gone soon hopefully for both. As I keep telling Bette, retirement great. Glad Tina referenced Mick Jagger. Remember 85 VF piece where he remarks black people call him Mick Jaggers. Good luck Tina, pulling for you always. Dean
