"Now that the 55- year-old bride Sánchez has proved that landing the fourth richest man in the world requires the permanent display of breasts like genetically modified grapefruit and behemoth buttocks bursting from a leopard-print thong bikini, she’s exuberantly and unapologetically shown that the route to power and glory for women hasn't changed since the first Venetian Republic."
Genius. For months now I've been trying to put together a jumbled, poorly written sentence to describe this romance and you did it so brilliantly.
How far we women have come. Another devastating look at what passes for success. Still there are loads of smart successful women in science and medicine who don’t make the headlines. All power to them. They’re the role models for the future.
The Soros-Abedin wedding was interesting only because it allowed us to see gathered in one place the people who are arguably the most responsible for subjecting us to Donald Trump as President. The arrogance and gross political malpractice of all the smart young people gathered around Hillary, like Abedin, contributed mightily to Hillary’s loss in a handful of rust belt states that handed Trump the presidency, instead of the political oblivion he deserved. The dress code for the wedding should have been sackcloth and ashes.
Like your mention of my rep., AOC. I believe she will be our first woman president. As to the incomparable Michelle Obama, tolerating near 20 years of racist hate and death threats gets her a pass, now and always. TB, keep setting the example!
Please write about Trump’s Botox Brigade! Such a downer aesthetic! I call them the Lara Croft wannabes, no offense to Lara. They are an affront to subtlety and its cousin taste, and to elegance and its mother - class.
When I look at Bezos, I recall your memorable description of M. Wolff. And when I look at Sanchez, I feel like the Slinky eyeballs guy in the comic book ads for X-ray vision glasses. Abandon taste, ye who enter here. Ye? Yeah, Ye gets in.
Glamosphere...genetically modified grapefruits...we were promised Mamala and instead got Mountainhead...to the barricades...cucumber cool...Beyonce's Parthenon thighs!
This is the sharpest -- and funniest -- writing in the Substackosphere.
Bezos made such an obvious choice with Sanchez. As my husband would say, “She seems really nice. I’m not sure why, but I really like her.” Where are the fearless women? Remember Logan’s Run? Maybe when the brainless followers are all killed off in the Carousel, they will re-emerge from the hills. As if from a bad dream. As always, love your writing. 🤗
Huma Abedin is 10 (?) years senior to Alex Soros. According to NYTimes, the relationship was a long slow bake. I am not sure how these super power relationships work but it is something that really interests me. (Vanity Fair Diaries gave us a few hints.)
And then there is Kaitlin Collins, raised and educated in Alabama, a straight-shooter, private about her life, married to another journalist - neither one an outward power player - and yet, can't take my eyes off her when I pass by a screen she is on.

I love you, Tina! You are wise and fearless!

Parthenon thighs. Solid gold...

I am channeling Tina wisdom and not saying what is on my mind. Thank you Tina, for saving me from displaying my bitchiest self publicly.

No doubt Bezos chose Sanchez solely for her smile (and maybe even her brains).

I meant “DECADENT” but not referring to the impeccable Huma. She’s class, Intelligence and heart personified.
