Natch. Caught my eye. My 22 year old granddaughter Isabel Gouveia is one of Keith’s maitre de DC minetta. She’s both stunning and a grad student Johns Hopkins international school studies. Summer 2018 while she visited In our lake home “ I’ll need to pay off huge debt after grad. I’ve followed McNally posts for years he’s thousands of followers. “ She immediately sent him a message thru social media. Within minutes “He got back to me !!! “ thus. She arranged a meeting and was hired before Minetta opened. I had my 74th birthday this March 21 in minetta with this dazzling young woman, my equally stunning son and elegant daughter in law. Basking in glory of all . Met Keith upstairs Lucy Mercer Bar. What a life ! Best French fries and Veuve Clicquot . Glowing review Tina. Yes. I’m allowed bragging mama Jenn rights. IZ is a hurricane 💪

I was never quite sure how Brian and Keith ever managed a partnership, given the gulf, no the ocean, of difference between their sensibilities. At 44, where I threw my former wife’s 44th birthday party, the decor pulsed the menu’s snob appeal: Those chairs all but purred, “Come, sit. I want to hurt you.” Pastis was empty when I interviewed Sam Shepard, a regular, late one morning for my biography of Wynn Handman and the American Place Theater, where Wynn had produced Sam’s first full-length play, among others. Even in pre-service darkness, the vibe at Pastis was welcoming and, well, like Balthazar, rich with authenticity, unlike the plague of faux bistros the McNally empires spawned.

I lived in Tribeca from 1983-1988. I walked to and from the World Trade Center to work. Odeon was like a beacon that I was almost home. Five of us lived in that crazy apartment. We would grab a drink and a shared appetizer and enjoy spotting celebrities there. I look forward to reading his book. 🤗

Irresistible piece, like the McNally restaurants I still identify with New York. Delicious and evocative. Could I join the two of you for dinner in May?
