Brilliant article, as usual. My heart hurts as well.

Great article and yet nothing seems to change in terms of how good, thoughtful people still think he is saving America from communism, from terrorists, from the evil neighbor to the North (Canada??!!) I give them their right to hold a different opinion but at some point, some point, the madness has to stop when we are being pushed ever deeper as a country into the debt hole--something that he ran on stopping. When, as you showed, innocent young people who enlisted more as defenders of their own country than as aggressors on foreign soil, die. And when I feel I have to defend the country of my birth--Canada--from accusations that it is somehow responsible for smoke from forest fires when Canadian firefighters have come to the US, still come to the US, to fight innumerable fires here. When no one wonders why Texas continues to have torrential floods--no neighbor to blame there, water doesn't flow upriver from Mexico. Maybe Nature itself is having its own meltdown in Canada as it is in Texas and it's impossible to tariff Nature. Also when Kash Patel is going to go "have a moment" with the successor to the Russian KGB in Moscow in October when the President himself admitted that Russia has meddled in our elections and our own US intelligence has said that Russia is supplying missiles to Iran. But, then again, Kash Patel and intelligence don’t seem to go together.

And, btw, the announcement this morning that the US is doing a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia. Just where did several of those 9/11 terrorists come from? Oh, Saudi Arabia.
