"I won every fucking time", so true and so revealing. Revealing how spineless, feckless, and self interested all of our politicians are to sit by and let this happen (listening congress?). With the world on fire, our VP Vance writes a book and goes on a book tour. I guess everything is running beautifully in our country so he has nothing else to do???? I find it astounding, and yet I hear no blow back. Democrats are no better, Pete Buttigieg did the same. He could have staffed our airport control towers and funded computers that are not 50 years old, but instead he wrote a book and went on a book tour. When the airports were clogged he advised people to go online and try and get a refund from their airline. Gee, thanks Pete.

Through the seventies, eighties and early nineties, I have no memory of politicians, Supreme Court judges, etc., writing books, giving vastly overpaid speeches to Wall Street and on and on. Now look where we are, it is just a cash grab for all of them, with endless self dealing. Ketanji Brown Jackson even appeared on Broadway about 6 months ago. Like, really??? She also wrote a book. I remember the days when Politicians would wait until they were long retired before such "financial ventures". Now it is a cash grab with Trump showing the way, and adding in how to grab power. God help us all.

If Democrats want to end fascism, instead of pearl clutching, just do your job. Forget the book deals, lectures and "building your brand" and fix the roads, fix the schools, build up the middle class. You will find fascism will not be appealing because the average American will be leading a good and prosperous life, far, far from where we are now. You know, like it used to be.

But Trump doesn’t win. Most of the time he loses bigly and then lies about it. By blasting through all the old institutional safeguards and dissing and dismissing all the US’s traditional allies he has conclusively demonstrated how important these are and how horribly wrong things can go when they are ignored. It’s a very important lesson, one that we all needed to learn. And what went wrong in 2020 is not that Biden won, it’s that the Democrats trying to bring down Trump couldn’t finish the job. They left him a wounded and very dangerous man. It would have been far better if they had just ignored him and left him alone.
