Thought you knew all the dirt about Prince Andrew, the Duke of York? Turns out there is still more sludge, as I learned in my video chat with Andrew Lownie, author of the eye-popping new bestseller Entitled, which the Sunday Times said “makes Prince Harry’s Spare look positively restrained.” Some of the new royal cringe we covered:
Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson stayed in contact with Jeffrey Epstein for five years after they said they cut ties.
Epstein’s black book had 16 numbers for Prince Andrew and 18 for Sarah Ferguson.
Epstein gave Ferguson as much as $2 million, far more than the oft-cited $15K.
Lownie describes Ferguson as a “human labrador,” who is “greedy and needy.”
Contrary to most reports, Lownie says Andrew is not short of money – and that he’s very good at covering his shady business dealings by having a Chinese bank account and other offshore accounts, and that it’s possible the duke sometimes even fences jewelry.
Lownie thinks Prince Andrew will not suffer further damage if the full Epstein files are released, in part because they have likely been “laundered.” But he says Andrew has plenty to fear if more info gets out about his numerous trips to Kazakhstan and his many associations there, including, Lownie suggests, with very young girls.
Forest Lodge, the new home the Prince and Princess of Wales will move into later this year, was offered to Sarah Ferguson after her divorce, but Prince Phillip nixed the offer because he wanted to keep her at a distance.
Princess Margaret thought Sarah Ferguson had brought more dishonor on the royal family than anyone else.
Former ABC anchor Amy Robach taped an interview with Andrew accuser Virginia Giuffre in 2015, but the palace got it killed by warning the network could forget about ever talking with William or Kate if it aired the Giuffre interview.
Why Prince Andrew’s best option may be to retire to hit the links in Abu Dhabi, not unlike King Juan Carlos moving to Dubai after his fall from grace in Spain.
