"He made the deluded duke feel that he had joined the big time: the deals, the girls, the plane, the sexy Manhattan world, no longer tied to the bank of HRH Mummy."

Writing so excellent, so savory!

Robin Patterson's avatar

This is what our government is willing to share. Imagine Putin has the deepest, darkest, dirtiest dirt on the entire Class of Epstein. Explains why Trump is so enslaved. That, plus Vladimir is clearly Donald’s type: “so strong and so smart and so POWerful”…

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Perhaps there is another reason: Trumpski has been beholden to the Russian mafioso/oligarchs who plowed hundreds of millions of dollars into his Florida real estate for a long time. Do ya think when he wished to hold the Miss Universe contest in Moscow, the folks over there wanted to have their palms greased with Rosary beads and Tibet prayer flags? Probably not.

Anyone literate in the ways of the mob, regardless of nationality, knows once you do business with them they will tell you owe them a favor for the privilege of doing business with them.

Robin Patterson's avatar

Money, yes, of course. First and foremost for Trump. Right behind his vulnerable financial exposure is his reprehensible and perverse, pedophile exposure. They're interchangeable. So, it's fair to say Trump is very busy sucking, blowing and doubling down on all the defence fronts - when he's awake, at least. Catching him in between and betwixt spontaneous, daytime slumbers should be the goal of every, single, so-called-journalist in the US of A!

Tina Brown's avatar

As above, agree. And so many of the Epstein girls were Russian do feel we will learn there was a honey- trap aspect to all this. T

Tina Brown's avatar

I agree that there feels a constant undertow of Russia in this saga that no one has really figured out yet T

Robin Patterson's avatar

Russia OWNS DJT. Putin has ALL the unredacted dirt on this filthy, dirty president. Iran isn't "Trump's War". It's Vlad's war on America's dime.

All these revelations leave a very big and dark mark on the legacy of Queen Elizabeth. How in the world was Andrew her favorite son, always to be protected?! As the mother of four myself, I am incredulous that she was such a blind judge of character.

Tina Brown's avatar

I agree that Andrew was a sad blind spot. I am told she had a gi-normous portrait of him at the bottom of the stairs to her private apartments at Windsor. T

MICHAEL WHARTON's avatar

Good stuff: the untouchable QE always had questions hanging over her as to forking out £12m big ones to a girl her fave son 'had nothing to do with'.

Tina Brown's avatar

And as time goes by the Brits are starting to gently prod the E2 halo. T

Mary Roddie's avatar

Thank you Tina - brilliant article as always. What do you think about what happened yesterday?

Tina Brown's avatar

By yesterday do you mean Andrew's arrest or Mandelson's? I wrote about in the next Fresh Hell if so! T

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Thanks T!

What else would one expect from The Yuke of Dork? Few have had better insights on the Royal Family than the late Robin Williams, "All that money and no dental plan!"

"...there’s a very good chance it will be swept out to sea.”

One can only hope.

Just reading this toxic sludge makes me feel like I need a very hot shower - with bleach. But major props once again to you, Tina. Your writing is simply a joy.

Tina Brown's avatar

so glad you are enjoying. Now it seems he may be swept into Wormwood Scrubs prison rather than out to sea. T

L'affaire Epstein gives us a peek into the gated community of the rich and powerful. Minor scumbags to towering scumbags, but scumbags one and all. None of the men would have any trouble getting laid yet many were drawn to young girls. All were on the prowl for contacts, deals, advantages. The French may have had the right idea.

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Digression: All of them had trouble getting laid, hence why they turned Epstein, so their sexual picadillo's would remain in the shadows rather than having, as Hillary Clinton labeled them, Bimbo eruptions, when all of her husband's infidelities were made public.

Windriven's avatar

Not sure I agree that they had trouble getting laid. To sort of paraphrase Iliza Schlesinger, a four with money has no trouble finding a solid 8. But they seem to be attracted to either forbidden teenage fruit or to an extreme power imbalance or both. But I agree that Epstein gave them the illusion of secrecy for their lusts and perversions.

Robin D's avatar

Rape, sexual abuse, sadism, biting, strangling of children, and underage girls. They were all monsters.

Tina Brown's avatar

They really were. A band of horrible hounds underneath all the trappings of wealth T

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Robin D,

Sadly, as any district judge in any state, along with any county or large metropolitan prosecuting attorney would confirm; the things you mentioned above are going on, on a daily basis, in every state to the underaged from their own family members.

Robin D's avatar

I'm not saying no, but never before have we heard of a global pedophilia ring encompassing the highest echelons of society, money, power, heads of state, presidents, royalty...especially the downfall of a royal prince from a 1000 yr old unbroken dynasty..2nd son of a beloved and admired Queen. It really is staggering. Do you remember the rumour that Jack the Ripper in Victorian England might have been one of Queen Victoria's sons? I think I heard that. I shouldn't be surprised about any of these men, but yet I am. And yes sadly this goes on everywhere in the world, daily. Pure scum. You have no idea what I wish on these pigs. I have a niece in one of the youngest ranges who if I ever knew someone did that to her (or even looked at her in that way) I feel like I could kill them with my own hands. 😥 So many of these rich men had daughters. I will never understand the human mind and the lowest depths of people's souls and there has to be a special place in hell for fathers or uncles or family members who do this to their own.

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Robin D,

"So many of these rich men had daughters. I will never understand the human mind and the lowest depths of people's souls....." Agreed!

For this hellion it is hard to understand the women who are standing in the way of complete transparency of every record that is available to expose everyone involved. A reasonable person would think they would be front and center to aid and comfort females preyed upon.

Tina Brown's avatar

well. At least they get the worst treatment in prison, but of course this crowd will never find themselves there T

Tina Brown's avatar

Very true. A horrible and under publicized. I remember the DA in San Diego telling me that 40 percent of abuse cases she saw were from members of the girls own families. T

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Windriven,

" But they seem to be attracted to either forbidden teenage fruit or to an extreme power imbalance or both." Nailed it!

Tina Brown's avatar

They loved showing off to Epstein. He encouraged them to be their worst and they loved showing him what macho super studs they were.

Heather Lacey's avatar

Ah but Epstein had Maxwell take photos of all of these creeps! Seriously, if you were a man of note, so to speak, and you were in compromising situations with young and exploited girls, would you let someone take a picture of you?

These men cannot possibly be smart.

Obviously the photo albums are not going to be released by the DOJ. I pray that Maxwell fully spills the beans. But sadly I know that will never happen.

Tina Brown's avatar

Lets hope the 6 Epstein storage units just found by the Daily Telegraph will yield some of the incriminating evidence we all hope for. T

Windriven's avatar

I hope I never implied that these lizards are smart. Either way the issue isn't smarts, it's ethics and the lack thereof. If you're a 50 year old man and you find anything enticing about boning a 17 year old, you're a sad specimen. That is simply masturbating in a human being. Eeewww.

Don't forget that there are lots of people involved here and some of them are going to talk. The *whole* truth may never come out but there's still a lot of road left in this story.

Tina Brown's avatar

Years worth of road. Whether anything conclusive we don't yet know. If it cracks open, it will likely be from foreign govts investigations T

Pat D's avatar

There's videos, too

They let them take videos.

Tina Brown's avatar

And I am hoping they are in the just found storage lockers as we have seen nothing of that yet.

Tina Brown's avatar

There is something to this theory. Not many pin up boys in the email files. Poor Larry Summers ! Leon Black with his weird black rug on his head....

Tina Brown's avatar

I agree its a rather disheartening window into the male gender when it thinks no one is looking ! So many of them coming out tarnished and tatty from the emails T

Windriven's avatar

Well, you can't paint the entire male gender with a single brush. But the scumbag brush would still have to be really big.

Maureen Dorsey's avatar

I think this just all lays bare the delusion that rich people are somehow 'better' people and more 'deserving' and 'smarter' and 'more clever' than the non-rich. What it shows is that wealth doesn't make one ethically superior or morally secure.

Sexual deviants and selfish, money hoarding miscreants can infiltrate the upper crust because they, after all, are merely humans.

Tina Brown's avatar

Indeed, but the rate they get punished is very different, which is why this scandal is making people nuts. T

Robin D's avatar

HBH. His Buffoon Highness. Lol.

I hope they catch Andrew on film having to be forcibly removed from Wood House. I picture him kicking and screaming and hanging onto the front door frame so tightly that his nails leave scratch marks as they pull him off. Fergie could end her days on the streets, I couldn't really care less, but what an embarrassment. I haven't read too much about their girls, but I have a feeling the apples don't fall far from the tree. He really was involved with the lowest of the low and he was dumb as a rock. The son of Ghadaffi, the "Stans", those from the Middle East. The level of grifting is obscene....and then there is Epstein. He will never be able to remove the taint..The Queen should have let Andrew marry Koo Stark and let his chips fall where they may..I'm sure Charles will give him a few pairs of extra high wellies for those floods to come, and probably a couple of horses to shut him up. They can remove his titles and everything else, but what they can't remove are his genes. He is still the 2nd son of The UK's longest reigning monarch. I hope (and try to have faith) that William and Catherine will never let this happen to Louis. QEII and PP created a monster.

Tina Brown's avatar

Amen to this.

Tod Cheney's avatar

Ha ha Tina. I don't know if this is really funny, or something else. Maybe there's some inbred royal genes at work in Andrews brain. You wonder, what would this man's life be if he were not born a prince. As for Marsh Farm, is that the barn or the house? Whatever. A good scene for the next chapter in the saga. One almost hopes the poor man gets a horsey, at least, and gallops off on a shoot.

susan kearney's avatar

Yes, preferably a runaway horse that will dump him somewhere in the bush and brambles for good.

Tina Brown's avatar

Hes now been banned from riding! Only a Pelaton left. Or perhaps a dog sled.

Tina Brown's avatar

Since this of course he has been hauled off to a police cell for his birthday. No one ever thought it would happen, but kudos to the King and Pm, it did. T

Tod Cheney's avatar

Right, and meanwhile, the Epstein entourage keeps falling. Spreading into the US, belatedly, and let's hope the momentum gathers, and leads, you know, to the tippy top, of the President's penis. Looking forward to your chat tomorrow.

Brilliant, and yet, ubiquitous in application.

Gammyjill's avatar

I’ve long time wondered what the RF could do with Princes Andrew and Edward. What kind of jobs would they be able to do or career choices could they make? Edward seems to have settled into some type of Representative job, along with his wife, but didn’t Sophie cause The Queen disappointment over some ham handed blackmail of or by some fake members of the Saudi royal family?

But what could Andrew and Sarah to make a living in at least a sort of honorable way?

Neither seems to much mental wattage but certainly Andrew could have landed a diplomatic job somewhere? Like, the Yukon.

But could they have gone to, say, law school and become a lawyer or barrister? Or med school and become a doctor? What do the sons of the Queen do for a living? Andrew and Edward did serve in the military. Why not stay there and do something good?

The King is going to face the same problem with GingerHarry. Or he’ll end up just as wasted as his uncles.

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Gammyjill,

You hit the jackpot on this one! You solved all the royal families problems! Soon on supermarket shelves everywhere, GingerHarry, the Royal ginger ale. "Drink Like a Royal!"

Linda's avatar

Personally, I've always liked Harry (and admire him for serving in Afghanistan) and don't want to see him tarred with the Royal brush. Thanks...

Heather Lacey's avatar

Harry is smart enough to have escaped. I've no doubt that the press' denigration of Harry's wife and therefore Harry has been aided and abetted by the Palace courtiers. The same courtiers who would have known everything about AMW courtesy of MI5 and MI6. Yet they shielded him, and his mother the Queen, for decades. What happened to morality and doing the right thing? They just hoped and prayed it would all go away. The contrast between how the Palace dealt with Andrew, and Harry, is stark and disgraceful imo.

I've lost all respect for the late Queen.

Tina Brown's avatar

Its certainly ironic that it's Meghan who got a bullying complaint from staff when you consider Andrew's behavior. T

Linda's avatar

Queen Elizabeth must have known nothing about the sordid news coming out now. Harry loved his "Granny" and named his daughter for her. The current "Queen," however, is another matter concerning Harry and Meghan. But we're off the subject, so I'm off, too....

Tina Brown's avatar

You will have to wait for my next royal book coming 2027!

Linda's avatar

Look forward to it!!!

Pat D's avatar

Like most Americans, I've always found both those "official" palace invites to the Trump entourage curious, to say the least. Coincidentally (?), the first one occurred around Epstein's second arrest.

Only mentioning it here, because I read about those visits today, and unlike the "senior" members of The Family, it was reported that although Harry diplomatically attended the luncheon and viewing with QE, he stayed far back and only conversed with Ivanka. He did not attend the banquet. The article mentioned Trump's disparaging remarks about Meghan, who was on maternity leave, as explanation for his behavior. I'm sure that was partly why, but I'm wondering now if there was another reason he didn't want to be part of that inexplicable embarrassment.

Tina Brown's avatar

This is a whole sub plot worth exploration.

Tina Brown's avatar

It's certainly unfair when he is lumped with Andrew which makes hm justly furious.

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Linda,

Agreed. He would've been there a lot longer if one of his mates hadn't blown his cover.

Wouldn't GingerHarry Ale be the perfect complement to his wife's As Ever jam? They could produce the ale in the same factory in Illinois where her jam is made to attain that, "Montecito magic."

Linda's avatar

Here from "Spare," Harry's autobiography, which I recommend to all his trolls: "An Australian magazine had outed me, told the world I was in Afghanistan. The magazine was inconsequential, so no one noticed at first, but then some bell-end in America picked up the story, posted it on his worthless website, and that got picked up by the crawlers. The worst-kept secret in the Milky Way was the presence of one Prince Harry in Helmand Province." He couldn't risk fellow soldiers being killed when he was targeted, so.... again, the press took him down.

Tina Brown's avatar

It was a tragic and shameful incident that embittered Harry for ever.

Tina Brown's avatar

Brilliant marketing plan.

Gammyjill's avatar

GingerHarry. I like it.

Trumpelstilskin's avatar

Hey Gammyjill,

You are a great inspiration thanks! I mean, come on, GingerHarry? Priceless!

Tina Brown's avatar

Trademark that now!

susan kearney's avatar

Harry has already reached that point in his scorched-earth campaign to malign his family, abetted and encouraged by his spouse.

Tina Brown's avatar

He has a lot to feel contemptuous about, really .

Tina Brown's avatar

Sophie is a former PR woman and after a few blunders has been an OK minor Royal. Edward is dim but harmless. Would have been an assistant bank manager if not the Queen's son. Andrew should have stayed hidden in the navy ,but they couldn't stand him there either.

Elizabeth Taylor's avatar

Such filth. Of course it has existed among the "filthy" rich forever. I do not personally care to hear about these men but I do wish our legal systems would lock them up. Until that happens we are all voyeurs.
